What they’re saying

The Drinkle 3 building gets a lot of praise from its tenants, who talk about everything from its great central location to its responsive management.

We’ve also gotten some great writeups in local media.

“A curious aspect of the Drinkle No. 3 over the years was the number of women living there. By 1940, half the tenants were women, and by 1957, it was nearly seventy-five percent female. Today this trend lives on with 58% of the tenants being women.”

“The building has undergone many changes, inside and out. On the main floor, businesses have come and gone, including a bank, a variety of fancy restaurants, and other street-level retail. The lower level is a cozy shopping mall with many store tenants, decorated with photos and displays that make it a vertiable museum of Saskatoon’s early boom years.”

The economic downturn of 1913 meant that Drinkle No. 3— originally envisioned as a 10-storey office tower with high-speed elevators, marble halls, and a rooftop garden— stalled the building’s constructions at five stories, and after being empty for the first six years, it was remodelled into a residential building. Today, this heritage building at 115 3rd Avenue South has 60 modern apartments, 18 private offices, two street level restaurants and 15 shops in its lower-level mall. Surely Drinkle would be tickled.
